Place card holders are not only an added detail to any table setting at an event, they are necessary to assist your guests in finding their way through a maze of tables. You don't always have to have a specific seat assigned to each guest if it is a sit down dinner, but a table card/place card is helpful in serving your guests in a timely manor. 2012 Color of the year

Dance into the New Year with this vivacious and reddish orange! There are many colors being brought into the 2012 Spring/Summer fashion world but the Pantone color of the year will be Tangerine. 2011's honeysuckle color was a mire shadow of this year's. Watch for trends with this bold color being paired with Cockatoo (light turquoise color) and Bellflower (kind of a lilac color). I have to admit my excited over this industry trend, as I wear this shade a lot. From my clothes, nails, and even makeup. I have said many times, over the years, fashion plays such an enormous roll in wedding design and that it is hard to not incorporate the "year's color" into a clients design. They say...the color Tangerine is to alter the mood with vitality and renewed energy. A brighter day..isn't that what weddings are all about?

Premier W.E.D. has only 2 clients out of the 2012 bookings who are local. All other clients are from out of state. This has been more and more common over the last three years. Nashville is an amazing destination wedding location. A lot of our clients are from Nashville area originally but moved away for school or work. They are familiar with the "feel" of the city but unfamiliar with all of it's new offerings in the event world. Enters Premier W.E.D.! We assist our clients in finding the perfect location for their wedding/rehearsal dinner/reception. There are many options (overwhelmingly) in different price ranges and capacity. I am often asked "what is the most popular location for a wedding in Nashville?" The favorite ceremony site is Scarritt Bennett at Wightman Chapel.

Winter Wedding

This is the third Flatt Family wedding we have had the honor to assist with. Lee is the the last of 3 siblings to marry (All with in about a year and half of each other) and he has chosen a jewel! Sarah is originally from Germany but has lived in the states for a few years. The study of music has brought the two together and they have chosen a January wedding at the beautiful St. George's Episcopal Church in Nashville. The reception will follow at Stone's River Country Club in Murfreesboro where Lee's parents reside. Sarah has a beautiful vintage/classic sense of style and I have attached photos that will represent the palette and look of the evening. As excited as I am for this family to welcome another wonderful person into it, I am sad I won't see Lee's family again! Maybe they will throw another party? :-)

Love March Madness

Alexis and Damion hired Premier W.E.D. back in March for their 2012 wedding. Time if flying by as we finish their plans for a beautiful ceremony and reception at the Noah Liff Opera Center. Both live in Auburn, Alabama and meeting time is limited but we are almost set! Alexis is a school teacher and Damion was an Olympic Track Athlete. This wedding is exciting for me because we will incorporate some of Alexis's family heritage and Damion's. Though most of the ceremony and reception will reflect their modern sense of a traditional American wedding, they will partake in a Nigerian wardrobe change and the traditional dance entrance into the reception. I can't wait! Alexis isn't so sure, but I know her father will appreciate it. Damion is from the Caribbean and we plan to have menu items and music the remind him of home. I am posting their Save The Date and some inspiration photos we put together for their upcoming nuptials! Looking forward to it!

The Best of Bling!

Patricia and Art came to my office with only the color red, roses only, an after party that is club like and BLING as their request. Nothing else. I had to find a venue, design, plan and execute a very detailed wedding in 8 weeks. Pressure was on to fit it into the already busy fall schedule that was upon me, but I had so much FUN planning this wedding that I hardly felt time pass.

I had to drape the entire historic ballroom of the Hermitage Hotel to create the club like atmosphere I knew my clients would want. I also partnered with Liberty Party Rental to bring the (ever so famous in the event world) "Ghost Chair" to Nashville! Finally!

The couple was a delight and one of the most gracious and generous clients I've ever known. Obviously this is a second marriage for both Patricia and Art, but Patricia "wanted to do it right this time." She was financially at a different place than her first marriage years ago. They certainly offered their guests one of the most extravagant wedding experiences I've had yet. From the start of their arrival with Limo service at the airport for each guest, to their amazing french champagne, a red rose and chocolate covered strawberries waiting them in their hotel rooms...all the way through the end of the evening and their custom take away baskets of homemade goodies prepared carefully by the Hermitage Hotel Chef. Everyone was treated like a star and the couple spent the evening with dear friends and family!

Hope's 40th Birthday

What a husband she has! Patrick Cummiskey could possibly win the husband of the year award for not only hosting a 40th for his wife, Hope, but also taking her on an amazing trip to Turks and Caicos! How many women get both the tropical trip AND the party?! I asked a lot of questions about Hope and his answers guided me to a theme of "country club-country chic". I was told Hope is from Kentucky, loves the beach, blue is her favorite color and she wears her diamond earrings even to play tennis. The best compliment she gave was, "This is my house! This could be my bedroom!" I gave a sigh of relief and watched her enjoy her lovely night!

Design notes:

I used the architecture of the space to guide me on the draping, mirrors, layout, etc. It has beautiful floor to ceiling windows that overlook the Titans Stadium so I wanted to highlight that. Blue Nova Designs hung drapes for me that bellowed at the bottom and then my director June tied them back with a blue beaded fringe trim that matched Hope's linens I selected. The main linen used was Blue Geneva from BBJ linens. The paper pieces created from the stunning invitation to the signs through out the evening were done by Designs in Paper. I adorned them with copper jewels to bring in a little bling. Hope wears diamonds all the time! I knew she'd want some bling. The lighting and dance music was provided by Southern Sky Event Lighting- Jason Davis. He ordered the perfect chandeliers for the space. One in the center of the room and one over the birthday cake. The cake was a perfect match to the linens by The Bake Shoppe. The flowers were provided by A Village of Flowers and as usual, they nailed it. I asked for soft, girly florals in whites. It was important they were soft and white to play off the drapes, and to counter act the rich dark woods and earthiness of the space. I wanted the containers sleek but with gold or copper accents. Last but not least....the food. My goodness! I have had wonderful food from Chef's Market, but they out did themselves this party! The menu was delicious and the guests were raving!

I am honored to be asked to be a part of life's special moments. My favorite part of my job is the reveal of the night to the client. It's pure joy! Thank you to all the vendors who helped pull it together and a special thank you to Evin Photography for capturing it all! With out her...my work is forgotten and the client can't relive the experience! Thanks Evin! You're the best!

Early 1900's Themed Wedding

I was approached to design a 1900's style wedding. I love this era. The details and style of this time in America and Europe has such romance attached to it. What better theme for a wedding! I chose to stick closer to the 1920's and here are a few ideas to bring this theme to fruition.

The background of palms is a perfect detail! They hint to the feathers used often in this design.

Juicy Couture and Tiffany's Theme 40th

This is the month for Birthday parties it seems! This is just one of 5 that we've been asked to plan in just 8 weeks of each other. WHEW! This one, however, is one of my favorites. It is so girly and elegant but not with out the PARTY!

Dr. Scott Blackman approached me about planning his wife's 40th at the Hermitage Hotel. I was thrilled to find out that he had booked the Veranda at the hotel and was interested in Premier W.E.D. putting our touch on things. I, like always, proceeded to ask a million questions about Jennifer to get a good feel for who she is. It's important when planning a surprise party to "know" the guest of honor as much as you can. Scott impressed me with having a answer for every question! Not many husbands have done that. :-)

With a crazy 80's themed band that rocked the Veranda, Margarita Machine and a dessert table that was yummy, this party was a hit! It's ultimate inspiration for me was Juicy Couture because that is Jennifer's favorite designer other than the famed Tiffany's. I then added the bling to blend both luxury items. It was so fun to plan this party! This is a woman after my own heart!

Summer 40th Birthday

My husband celebrated his 40th in May. I had warned him about giving me a heads up if he wanted a party due to the fact that May is my busy season and I also am a PLANNER for a living. The heads up was given to me 3 weeks prior to the party (3 weeks in my husband's world is equal to 3 months). YEP....in three weeks I picked invitations, found a venue (Unique Flavor Cafe'), ordered the food (he requested BBQ) and got the desserts lined out. Doug's dessert request was donuts so that was easy, but I also added in his favorite cereals with recipes from a famed NY dessert and pastry chef. Captain Crunch Trail Mix and Fruity Pebble treats!

Since we wouldn't be dancing, Doug loved a party I had several years ago that was 80's themed. He wanted the same Pictionary and Name That Tune games played at his 40th. We played girls against guys and it was laughs the rest of the evening. The night was very casual and filled with those Doug put on an intimate invitation list. Jason Davis came to the rescue as our DJ/Lighting company and our game night entertainer. His infectious sense of humor was perfect! Popsicle Paradise

Cool off your guests with a classic summer treat! Popsicles were invented by accident by an eleven year old in 1905. Frank Epperson left a cup of powdered soda, water with a stirring stick on his porch. The temperatures were so cold, that the next morning found a frozen Popsicle. The Popsicle was first called an Epsicle, and his friends quickly loved it. In 1923, when busy working at a lemonade stand did he think about making it a business. He then changed the name to Popsicle, after his kids kept asking for "Pop's 'sicle." He got a patent for it in 1924. The following year he sold the rights to the Joe Lowe Company. In 1928, Epperson had royalties from over 60 million Popsicle ice pop sales.

I am a fan of offering "adult only" Popsicles along with kid-friendly options that are a throw back to the ice-cream truck days.

Le Diner en Blanc

In France, every summer, they have this wonderful dinner party that celebrates the essence of summer. The event is by invitation only and it is set in all white. Guests bring their own dinner, tables, chairs, but all in white of course! The location is always a secret so the police don't spoil their fun. A well-know public landmark is their setting every year and what ever location is chosen they bathe it in white.

I'm a bit intrigued by this and would LOVE to attend. Sense that is unlikely, I will be throwing my own Le Diner en Blanc. Paint the night's sky with white sparkling light and enjoy a few ideas.

Ok, so I came across this wedding that had my two favorite things involved with it and I had to share. First, a candy shop. Specifically gum-balls. And second, it's located in Minneapolis, which is the home to one of my favorite music artist of all time, Prince. Shocking, I know!

Red Ribbon Studio took great shots of the Cherry red, and bubble gum accents involved in this wedding. It made me happy just looking at it. Weddings tend to be traditional in the south and I loved to see a hint of whimsy with this one. I have also always loved the pairing of turquoise and red. This shows it beautifully!

Color Of The Moment

Some would say that a color referred to as Honeysuckle would be a white/yellow hue. Instead, the color that is hitting the fashion streets and the wedding design world is a rich pink. It is flirtatious and pairs beautifully with neutrals or navy to keep a sophistication. I think the best way of showing the bright beauty is to use many varying shades when pairing it. It is said that this color evokes "happiness". What could be more appropriate for your wedding day? There will be many ways to incorporate this color into your wedding. 40th Birthday Chic Celebration

What a great way to celebrate a grand birthday and Valentine's Day! Dr. Shawn Brown shared an evening of dancing, drinks and delectable dining with friends and family from all over the U.S. The event was held at The Bungalow in Murfreesboro. A small intimate space that is in the middle of downtown and has beautiful features that are characteristic of it's age. Under new ownership and worth a peek if planning an event in Murfreesboro.

Shawn came to us with a desire to have her party be an amazing celebration. I had designed a 50th birthday for a local song writer a couple of years ago and Shawn read Sandy's statement about how "she felt like Oprah!" What a great complement that was to me and I know that Shawn wanted that same feeling. Surprise, shock, love, and attention to detail.

Shawn was drawn to a linen from BBJ Linen Company (a sample I had shown her in our first meeting). Over the next few months, the entire party emerged from that one fabric and Shawn's love of Cherry and Turquoise mixed. Shawn is also a self proclaimed "foody" and her menu was one of the most extensive I've had yet. Chef, Lisa Coffman with Unique Flavors, was hired to handle Shawn's catering and also a dessert bar that was to die for! Designs in Paper helped me recreate the linen pattern for all of the paper elements I used in the design. From the invitations to the dessert and favor tags. We commissioned Jay Quals for the 4 tiered custom birthday cake that sat center stage on the dessert bar. With a red carpet arrival, Jason Davis provided the cool turquoise lighting with in the vintage space and Tim Lake's 8 piece band, Skyline Drive, kept the guests moving.

Snowflake Wedding

The wedding of Meredith Dean and Josh Gruner took place in January at the Noah Liff Opera Center. It was a simple, beautiful ceremony that guests enjoyed in the Grand Lobby and then were asked to attend the reception in the ballroom. The color palette Meredith chose in our initial meeting was a Nile Blue/Navy/Taupe combination I ordered from BBJ Linen company to drape the reception tables. The Cake was a perfect reflection of the evening theme and it was absolutely delicious! Cakes By Rebecca baked a vanilla cake with raspberry filling. Snowflakes adorned the ceremony area, suspended over one of the lavish food stations provided by Chef's Market, and were also placed on dinner tables along side the tall greenery/curly willow arrangements provided by A Village of Flowers. Meredith's mother, Becky played a large roll in bringing the details together and loved the idea of paper lanterns over the dance floor. Jason Davis DJ and Lighting also provided the room with a warm glow by adding the can lighting around the room. Tomorrow's Memories Photography (Zach and Sarah Henson) were the photography team for this wedding. A big "thank you" to them for sharing their blog photos with me and making this easy to share with all of you!

I loved meeting Meredith's Grandmother who retired after 33 years in the event planning business. She told me of her past clients like Sammy Davis Junior and others!

The Groom's Cake was a hot chocolate station that we had fun condiments like marshmallows, caramels and peppermint sticks. The guest favorite was the shots of peppermint schnapps they could add to their hot cocoa!

Ribbon Wands made the perfect send off down the grand stair case.

They were such a sweet family to work with and Meredith's father, Rob, was a great host that evening and gave a wonderful introduction of the Bride and Groom. I wish Meredith and Josh many blessed years ahead and know that God has a watchful eye over them! Thank you for allowing Joanne and I to be a part of your special day.

I posted this couple's wedding about a month ago and was awaiting a few more detail shots from Kristin Vanzant Photography. Lana and Ethan were married over Thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed an evening of friends, food, and most importantly FUN! Probably one of the most gracious couples I have worked with, Lana and Ethan are a planner's dream to have! Grateful, open-mined, and realistic about the day and what it's all about. Lana had a palette of Federal Blue/Moss/Platinum with little hints of the fall foliage colors mixed in. The girl's dresses were a beautiful navy strapless chiffon that looked amazing on all the bridesmaids! Enjoy a few more details from this 2010 wedding!

How Things Change

It's been over a year since Keoni Keur shot our Premier W.E.D. "photo shoot". I LOVE the classic shots of the girls and his picture of me in my office will remain a favorite. It is fitting of my every day work (minus the ruffled dress of course! ) and even though I warmly embrace change, it will be hard to replace those photos. However, when Christy Bryan with Waldorf Photographic Art (www.waldorfphotographicart.com) offered to do a shoot for the girls and I, I jumped at the chance!

If you know me at all, then you know I am all about staying current and fresh with out compromising who I am at the heart of design. Christy was not feeling well, traveling in last minute from Memphis from a trip with her husband, she stepped up to the plate to spend a few hours with us downtown. I know she must have been exhausted and she still walked all over with us finding just the right place she thought was great for us to get some good pictures. I am a southern girl at heart, but I have this "funky/urban" part of me that creeps out and I had to explore.

Christy's parent company, Waldorf Photographic Art is out of Knoxville and Bill saw Christy's great talent and asked her to branch out to the Nashville market. The crazy thing is....I met Christy when she photographed a client's wedding (Barbara/Cal's wedding) and while she was shooting that one at the Hutton Hotel, I also had a wedding in Leiper's Fork the same day (Brittney/Austin's wedding) and Bill was shooting it! First time to work with this company at all and I just happen to get both entities! Christy is employed full time with a large Magazine company here in Nashville so she has a great eye for the print. I think she did an amazing job of capturing the fun, relaxed side of my company as well as a little sassiness that has brought me to today! Thank you so much Christy for all your hard work, and patience with four women who were freezing and particular. You are the best! I know that when people turn to our website to find out more about Premier W.E.D. and who is behind the work, your pictures will give them a great sense of fun to come! Southern Weddings Magazine Online, this REAL wedding was a pleasure to be a part of. Meg and Josh met on the reality TV series, Nashville Star. Both very talented musicians and VERY creative. The planning process with Meg and her mother, Donna was so fun and I was honored to help execute their plans and ideas. I think having a planer's voice to confirm design ideas and thoughts was all Meg needed!

I still giggle at the day Meg was in my office for a design meeting and somehow the subject of Josh's boy's came up. (The handsome tykes in the photo below!) We soon realized that my daughter Greer and Josh's son Drake had been in preschool together. We then put two and two together that sweet Drake (really is a sweet kid!) had a biting problem his first year at the Preschool and Greer was the last to experience his fetish. I still can see the horror on Meg's face when she realized it was my "Greer" that he bit! As a mother of two....I know that kids go through phases that you aren't always sure they will come out of! Just ask me which phase mine is in at the moment and it will make your jaw drop I'm sure! All that to say...Greer, being the dramatic 2 year old at the time, still talks about the moment and that makes it even funnier. I quickly settled Meg's fear of "Mom going to beat up the kid who bit my kid!". Life happens....But BOY Nashville is so small!

I know that they (Donna and Meg) are starting their own business with vintage finds that will be rented or used for weddings. I hope to have all the information to share with you soon. Not only are Meg and Josh great musicians, but they are up and coming photographers. They studied under their dear friends, The Parsons and do some fantastic work! You should check them out! Damask Fall Wedding at Noah Liff Opera Center

Mary and Terrance were married in early Oct. at the St. John American Church in Nashville with a beautiful fall reception held at The Noah Liff Opera Center. (I blogged about their engagement a few months ago and you can view it here.) The couple had many friends and family who shared their special day with them. It was fun to see the family gather around this couple and embrace them with such excitement.

The design of the evening came to me from the binder that Mary had chosen to hold her wedding details in. She brought the binder to our first meeting and shared with me her favorite colors for the wedding. With out even noticing she had chosen the same for her book, I pointed out the similarities in the binder. We were off from there....Chef's Market brought a fun flare to stations set up around the reception, Village of Flowers created budget friendly arrangements that popped with color and texture. The Bridal bouquet was STUNNING against Mary's dress and beautiful skin! Jay Qual's with Mapel's Wedding Cakes did a fantastic job matching the invitations and Jason Davis handled the warm lighting that providing the mood for the evening. With out Divine Images, I surely couldn't share the fun and beauty of the night! They were "work horses" rallying family and friends for as many shots as they could get. All the while, grabbing the amazing detail shots that I, as a planner, need to show.

Holiday Party Time!

A new company to TN, Jackson National Life Insurance is a welcomed addition to Williamson County and I was so excited to have been selected to handle their first TN office Christmas Party.

Being politically correct, I suggested a Winter Wonderland Themed party. I imagined a cool blue surrounding with pops of bright red on the tables to represent the season but more importantly the company's color. Lot's of sparkle, great food, and dessert room and a killer DJ helped to make this party an urban holiday oasis for the client. Durego in Cool Springs was selected to be the host venue because it is not far from the corporate offices and it is a great clean slate to work with.

I ordered mirrored curtains from a online source that I use and had them installed into the ceiling in various places to provide even more shimmer through out the space. Think updated version of mirror ball effect. I also took some strands of the same material and hung them from the tree branches (real branches sprayed and installed around metal posts in the room). The light up cubes around the lounge seating were a design I came up with a year ago for another client's wedding. Blue Nova made them for me and I have been able to re-use them several times for clients.

The dessert room not only showcased a beautiful table of treats, it also had a hot chocolate bar with all sorts of condiments to add to create a warm delight!

Signature drinks for the night were peppermint martini's dressed with a candy cane and sugared rims. I used the LED ice cubes to bring a little fun and urban feel to the drink.

Lana and Ethan - A Thanksgiving Wedding Weekend

This pair is the quintessential college couple. Meeting at Old Miss, Ethan was Quarterback and Lana was cheering on the sidelines! Lana is a Mississippi girl and Ethan's family resides in TN. They came to me through Ethan's father originally...(Steve Flatt, also minister for their wedding) when I was hired to do a surprise party for Patsi Flatt, Ethan's Mother. I now have Steve and Patsi's daughter's wedding in March and really look forward to keeping in touch with this sweet family.

Lana's parents were out of town so you could see the panic in their faces when they first arrived for the wedding festivities. Having not been involved in the planning process, Mrs. Barrentine was nervous things were "all taken care of". Of course, with my amazing side kick, Joanne and all of my favorite vendors....every thing was completely flawless that evening and the guests had a ball! I think Mrs. Barrentine approved and could let her heart settle. This is quite common for my company lately...out of town parents of the Bride. They had planned their other daughter's wedding with out help and the stress was over whelming for them. I was honored to help Lana AND her family be able to relax and enjoy the day!

Ethan was diligent with the budget and Lana was amazingly trusting of my suggestions and designs. It is usually harder for a client to relinquish control of the design, but Lana was ready for it. Her work was very demanding, they were going to be moving, and she was clear about what she wanted. She then released Premier W.E.D. to make that happen!

I always feel a sense of disappointment when I know I won't see my clients anymore...this was certainly true of this couple. However, I get to be with them in March as Rachel Flatt takes her vows! Kristin Vanzan t did a fantastic job catching the spirit of this sweet couple. I get the pleasure of working with her again in March as well! Mary (who is finishing medical school) and Terrance (who is an IT guy) first met when a mutual family member was born 14 years ago. Mary had a huge crush on Terrance, but he didnt know it. To her surprise he asked Mary on a date 4 years ago. She still doesn't know what prompted it or how long he had been thinking about it, but she quickly said yes. They were engaged on
Nov 29, 2009. Mary was thrilled to wake up to breakfast cooking since sone of her favorite things is eating. She came downstairs to flowers on the table and card. Mary said she knew there was something was going on, but Terrance played it cool at first and told her it was all in appreciation of her. They ate the wonderful breakfast Terrance had cooked, they talked about nothing in particular and then Terrance asked Mary to read the card he had laid out for her. While Mary was reading the card, Terrance got on one knee, had the ring in his hand and was asking her for her hand in marriage. Mary was so hysterical she can't remember anything he said. The rest is history and will be so fun to watch it play out in Oct. when they are married! Their ceremony will be held at Terrance's church, The Church of St. John and their reception will follow for family and friends at the beautiful Noah Liff Opera Center.

Mary and Terrance chose the fabulous Divine Images for the wedding photography company and Leslie was kind enough to share their engagement photos with us. This gives a beautiful glimpse into Mary and Terrance's personalities and I can't wait to see the wedding pictures! Congratulations to this sweet couple!

Do Yourself a Favor

Wedding favors are often an after thought for a lot of wedding couples. You can be overwhelmed with ideas or blocked of thoughts of how to incorporate your wedding into such a small item! Cost is another major factor keeping couples from providing that extra treat for their guests. Here are some new ideas for 2011, cost efficient options, and also some of my favorite favors no matter the theme! Keep in mind that all favors should be personable, useful, and/or tasteful. If this can't be accomplished in a way that you are satisfied then don't offer them. There is nothing worse than a tacky favor! As fond of your new initial as you may be, no one really cares to drink out of one wine glass at home that has your initial on it, or a coffee mug for that matter! I have also seen homemade muffins get turned away because of their packaging alone! If you go to the trouble of making something, make sure your guests will want to accept them. If they can't tell what is under the purple cellophane and they got squished by family members who piled them into a basket, most people will decline to take one no matter how delicious they may taste. Presentation is everything!

Make them yourself- A common trend these days is DIY. Either option is very personable and rewarding, but it can also be time consuming. Brides today are working full time, some have children from a previous marriage or some are trying to wrap up school so the idea of spending several nights a week on favors isn't realistic. That's where Etsy comes in handy! This site is fabulous for all items hand made! Also consider if you don't make the favors by hand you can certainly package them by hand!

Give guests something they can remember- I am a fan of food! I love anything edible for favors! Candy bars, donut bars, dessert bars, etc. draw the guests. But even simple packaging of toffee from your hometown can be so enticing that guests will want seconds! Guests enjoy edible favors much more than any other I have seen.

It is always great to incorporate your hometown into this type of favor. A new chocolate company based in Nashville that has a twist on the traditional and yet, complete southern charm has become a sensation. Welcome artisan chocolatier, Scott Witherow! He is a native to middle TN, but spent a great amount of time in England and studied at Le Cordon Blue London. He landed back in Nashville after many travels and has opened Olive and Sinclair Chocolate Company. Even his retro wrappers bring a nostalgic feel that I think my clients will L-O-V-E. Fall Farm Wedding

I am excited to have Jennifer and Flint's wedding coming up in Oct. I am late in posting their engagement session photos and sharing their story but it's a cute one! Worth the wait! Enjoy...

Jennifer Courtney Devine is the daughter of Bill and Cynthia Berkley and Michael and Susan Devine of Brentwood, Tennessee. She is a 1998 graduate of Father Ryan High School in Nashville; and a graduate in Public Relations / Spanish at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. She is employed by SimplexGrinnell in Nashville as a sales representative.

Flint Casey Mac Adam is the son of Fritz and Colleen Adam of Fayetteville, Georgia. He is a 1998 graduate of Fayette County High School in Fayetteville; a 2002 graduate in Broadcast Journalism at Georgia State University in Atlanta. He is employed by WZTV-FOX 17 News in Nashville as a weekend weathercaster and weekday reporter.
Flint has several older siblings: Steve, Mike, Ingrid, Chris, Kirsten, and Greta.

How they met:

On a cold and snowy morning in March 2008, Jennifer woke up and flipped on the TV. Tennessee Mornings on FOX 17 was airing, and on the tube was a cold and sick Flint... reporting in the ice and snow. Even with the harsh weather, Flint kept his report light-hearted and animated, and Jennifer thought this young reporter was "funny and cute."
She remembered his name and decided she'd look him up. Later in the day she logged on to MySpace and found Flint's profile. He was her age... and single! So, she added him as a "buddy" on her friend's list.
Flint got the buddy-request and checked out her profile... thinking "this chick is pretty hot." He accepted the request and e-mailed his new friend... and the two hit it off!
After a few phone conversations, Jennifer and Flint went on their first date at wine bar Rumours East in Nashville on Thursday, March 13, 2008.
The two had a great time drinking wine and chatting... a real connection was made.

At the end of the evening, Flint walked Jennifer to her car and asked if he could kiss her good night. She said "yes"...

Schermerhorn Symphony Center wedding and reception

Julie Kroenig married Dr. Jonanthan Forbes in April just before the floods closed the Schermerhorn. This couple is extraordinarily smart, beautiful and kind. They each come from close knit families with the same qualities and were set up by Jonanthan's Uncle who worked in the news room with Julie. I blogged about their engagement earlier this year and spoke of Julie's job as a local news morning anchor and Jonanthan is a neurosurgeon. I have to say that Julie's brother's were a hit at the wedding (which embarrasses their little sister to no end)as one is a world famous supermodel for Chanel and the other is a professor at Oxford. Brad and Nicole Kroenig's son, Hudson, insisted that his stuffed tiger, that was a personal gift from Karl Laggerfeld himself, go down the aisle with him. And...as I struggled to even get him down the aisle at all; gave into his sweet face and sent them on their way. It was a pleasure working with Julie and getting to know her and I now consider her a friend. Her personal style was similar to my own so it made the planning and design process simple. All vendors involved helped to create a beautiful day for this special couple. Farm Wedding to Come

I have recently had the pleasure of meeting Katie to help with her Sept. 4th wedding at Southall Eden Farm to Jordan Anderson. A wedding planner was a last minute hire for this family and I think a smart choice since their guest list has shot up significantly and this is their first wedding to plan! It can get overwhelming and a little help organizing the chaos a wedding can bring is just the thing they need. I love sharing about my engaged couples when I can and they have a great story and future ahead.

Katie and Jordan met at Auburn University in their Organic Chemistry class. Jordan (who swam on the Swim and Diving team at Auburn) was smitten with Katie but she was in another relationship at the time they met. Jordan was very patient and continually pursued Katie and the opportunity arrived for them to go on a date and Katie agreed! She claims she was hooked right away! They both graduated in May with a major in Biomedical Sciences. Jordan is applying to Med school and Katie will go into Physician Assistant School. Katie and Jordan are thrilled and feel blessed that Jordan was selected as a 2010 Rhodes scholar in November! They are moving to Oxford, England on September 24th where Jordan will study Medical Anthropology at Oxford. Downtown Nashville Wedding Reception

There are an abundance of choices for wedding reception venues downtown, however, the floods caused many brides to relocate. This wedding was scheduled and designed (I might add) for One Eleven and the floods caused damage to that building's elevator system. We had to relocate the week of their wedding. A few things were re-designed to accommodate the new space, but it turned out great! It also helped that the Bride and her mother were very gracious throughout the "moving" process. The Pinnacle Bank Building downtown on 3rd Avenue was a great setting for this young couple. The Bride wanted a mix of sleek glam/with a traditional twist. We used fun patterns, lots of glimmer and a modern palette of Green/White/Black. and touches of hot pink. She also loves Paris so we through in a few Parisian design elements along the way and of course, skittles were a must since it's her favorite candy! I found over sized skittle containers in green that when you opened them, they had the variety of flavors but the outside still matched the candy table I designed. Loved them! Ellis- Mandel Wedding

It was posted a while ago but with only a portion of photos. Jennifer Mandel just sent some more fun photos from her wedding and reception held at One Eleven Venue downtown Nashville. Sweet, sweet couple and very relaxed. They held a small Jewish ceremony and reception to follow that was fun and funky! I used a lot of blue light to create more of a night club feel for them outside on the terrace over looking the city. We also used their motif to create wall graphics, cupcake graphics, etc. Jennifer is a scientist who studies Sunflowers and so we of course, used them with in the floral design. Southall Eden paperie custom designed their invitations for us and their motif. Jason Davis provided DJ and Lighting. Fun night! Enjoy!

Mandra and Norris

I had mentioned not long ago that we would be sharing the engagements and planning news of some of our clients. I am thrilled to share Mandra and Norris's engagement photo shoot with you through Evin Photographyhttp://www.evinphotography.com/. Mandra and Norris met in Germany. Both are children of military families. They are the proud parents of Amaya who stole the photo shoot! How could she help it...look at her!

Mandra and Norris will marry on July 3rd at Scarritt Bennet Whitman's Chapel, and the reception will be held at Union Station Hotel-Wyndham Property. Their theme is a combination of their birthstones. Sapphire, Emerald and Pearl. When we first met, I suggested those colors fall in line with a peacock feel and Mandra loves peacock feathers. So fast forward and we are doing some fun details with the peacock feathers but not overwhelming so that the focus is the pallet more so than the bird itself. They have chosen a sit down dinner for their guests and a DJ (Jason Davis) to entertain! Lighting will be provided by Nashville Event Lighting. Cake will be provided by the ever fabulous Jay Quals with Maples. Invitations by Southall Eden Paperie. Evin also shoots great detail shots so I will be excited to share when those arrive! Goodbye cupcakes and candy bars. And helloooo donuts!

It's official. The donut craze has arrived and I am happier for it. There's nothing better than biting into a warm, gooey, glazed donut. Then licking the excess icing off your fingers and flushing it down with a glass of ice cold milk. Ahhh...I could eat one (OK, two) right now. And there are a lot of couples who share my passion for the doughy goodies.
Many couples are choosing these delectable delights as the main dessert at their wedding. And I see this trend taking front and center this year. There are so many varieties of donuts -- jelly-filled, simple glaze, chocolate covered -- that couples of all personalities and styles can feature them any way they want on the menu. No matter what, wedding guests are surely to eat them all!

So look out for a donut tower at the next wedding you attend, or maybe you'll decide to have one at your own.

Engagement Feature- Schermerhorn Wedding

To see a couple in love and getting ready to make that big step...it gets me all excited for the wedding! What I love about engagement photos is that every couple is different. You get a glimpse into each of their unique style and personalities. Engagement photo shoots are also a great way for the soon-to-be newlyweds to connect with their photographer.

Because I think engagement photo shoots are so special, I'm going to start featuring some of the couples that I'm working with so that you also get to experience the "pre-wedding" excitement! The first couple I'd like to share with you is Jonathan and Julie. A very driven, modern, beautiful couple who will marry in April. The couple worked with photographers Sarah and Zack Henson of Tomorrow's Memories Photography for their engagement photo shoot.

You actually might recognize Julie. She is the morning co-anchor on the ABC News affiliate here in Nashville. Her fiance, Jonathan, works as a resident in the neurosurgery program at Vanderbilt. The two first met in West Virginia in 2003.

They both share a passion for traveling. In fact, he proposed to her in London. And they plan on spending their honeymoon under the beautiful sun in Rio de Janiero.

They will be exchanging vows at the spectacular Schermerhorn Symphony Center. They chose this elegant venue because one of their first outings together was in a symphony hall in Pittsburgh. Plus, the Schermerhorn has magnificent architecture and it's downtown, in the heart of Music City where the couple has called home since 2007.

After the ceremony, Jonathan and Julie's guests will mingle in the outdoor courtyard and then head to the grand ballroom to enjoy dinner and live music.

Julie chose a cool and modern palette for the wedding -- platinum silver and apple green. This is a great combination and these colors will look fabulous in the spring!

I'm so thrilled to be a part of Jonathan and Julie's special day. I know their wedding is sure to be gorgeous. So remember to check back in the spring for more photos!

As as wedding designer/planner I secretly have my favorite clients. This particular client was easy to please and was thrilled with my design. Two years ago, before the butterfly craze, I created a spectacular party for my then, 2 year old daughter. I wanted it to be bright, cheerful, and a fun fantasy land for the girls attending. Being mindful of my time and a budget set by my ever so frugal husband, I used my creativity in making the day very special. Here are pictures for inspiration and ideas.

FLOWERS
I chose to use interesting flower selections in feature locations rather than tons of traditional flowers. We also utilized the flowers from the rehearsal dinner in the reception. Keeping design and floral selection interesting is a better use of your resources than trying to place flowers everywhere in little bits that eventually are overlooked. WOW factor goes a long way! And consider your location, mine was a shotgun style space and would be filled to the hilt, so I focused upward and outward!

FOOD

We wanted the epicurean fair to be indigenous to the region, creative and delicious. We couldn'tget more local than my dad & uncle’s famous bbq! They prepped the meat and the caterer prepared a variety of mini-wiches with all the accoutrement! As homage to my husband’s purest pallet, we also had grilled cheesettes, finished off with our monogram seared into the bread! This detail was a very inexpensive way to sass up something simple and a complete crowd pleaser! Our triple mini cake display was created by Monica Harris with Dumplins Bakery in Jackson, TN .

SEND OFF
We sent off with 100 illuminated balloons with post cards for people to send back once they landed! This was a fun, unexpected and very inexpensive!

It is important when trying to cut cost you do not cut quality. Be thoughtful as to what you make your projects and who you delegate them to. Be sure that the projects can be completed before the wedding week so that you do not feel the pressure of them getting done. And the one thing that you should most definitely leave to the professionals is the flowers or anything that cannot be done until the day of. -Jennifer Neal Milam

I asked my sweet friend, Jennifer Neal Milam- Wedding Designer and owner of Reveal Event Style, to share with you about her wedding experience. I have so many clients feeling the pressure of budgeting and cut backs on their dream wedding and I thought this might make those of you feel a little more normal! I was sad to not help her with her dream wedding, but she was adamant that I attend a wedding finally and NOT plan one! I enjoyed myself thoroughly and her music was my favorite part of the entire wedding! This is a two part series and she will share her experience in keeping a designer look but on a defined budget. Thank you for sharing Jennifer!

As a wedding professional the first question everyone asks is “did you plan your own wedding? “ to which I responded emphatically, “No”! I did have input but I shocked myself to let go of many of the decisions and let my dear talented friends in the industry take the reins that day. And more importantly, I was able to let go of expectations of others, having produced events for Colin Cowie along with many other career achievements the bar was set high. Then the pressure mounted as well as the reality that I was working with a REAL budget.
I dealt with all the same issues as any bride; what to wear, who to invite and how to convey our personal style and entertain our friends as they celebrate our marriage. Deciding what is most important to you is a great way to begin the process.
Taking my own advice I made a list of what was most important to me for each event and what experience I hoped for during each festivity.
Below are my suggestions for creative and cost effective ideas:

THE ATTIRE- Who are you wearing?
I had the most wonderful experience with The White Room in Lebanon. They have gowns in a wide spectrum of ranges and styles which made this so much fun. After a few frustrating moments tangled in tulle I called them, told them my budget, style and size. When I arrived there were two racks full of dresses! Most of which reflected the look I was going for and then one that was definitely not but as irony would have it, was THE ONE! And it was the least expensive but the most couture. It was by Allure, a special edition gown that was so unique it had never been photographed! And just a note, not one person was interested in “who” I was wearing. If it looks good on you does it matter the price or who made it? After the accessories and alterations it was just at $1000.

The bridesmaids I wanted to be sure were comfortable, appropriate and fashionable. I chose a two piece ensemble; the ruffled top was a J. Knight from Macy’s and a citrus green skirt from (gasp!) David’s Bridal. The shoes were gold strappy sequined pump. They will truly be able to wear them both again! Ha-ha!
I did want TJ to have something to keep from his attire since he chose not to have a tuxedo made, we did have a custom tie made by Otis James from Street Tuxedo. We also had ties made for our dads and my cousin the Officiant. We had them inscribed with our wedding date and served as a gift as well as a sentimental notion. $40 each.

LOCATION – Find Free Locations
For a couple who has lived everywhere from Brentwood to Beverly Hills, it was an interesting choice to decide on my hometown of Dyersburg, Tennessee to establish our marriage. 2 words FREE VENUES, done and done! The venue was unconventional, historic and perfect! No one had ever used it and I could not have been more thrilled! Built on the downtown square gave it an immediate nostalgia. We would be under the stars and not too much finesse was needed. I knew I wanted two things, an enormous butterfly and roses over the dance floor! We also converted the planters along both sides (200’) into seating by making cushions in 8’ lengths wrapped in white fabric. It was much less than renting which would actually be a custom item for the size we needed.

INVITATIONS- DIY
The invitation being a prelude to your wedding and all the exciting happenings to follow, I decided that our wedding would be all about personal touches. I shopped Office Depot and found a clean package with interesting envelop folds and at Michaels I found a collection of stamps. Our leit motif being butterflies we spent hours stamping each invite, a labor of love that saved us hundreds of dollars. We did however send special invites in boxes to our wedding party designed by Stephanie Kimes of OneNine Designs in Los Angeles because we had enough money left over in this budget to do so.

WELCOME
Each guest was presented with a welcome box full of treats which were family recipes along with a homespun item from my MeMaw. A list of things to do was also included for guest to tour the town where I grew up.

WEDDING CEREMONY
I wanted to make certain that guests talked about the ceremony as much as the reception. It was important to us that it was meaningful and not just a part of the process to get to the party!
The music, processional and our vows were the focus. I dictated the design for my bouquet but all else I left up to my dear friends, A Village of Flowers. The ceremony included modern music selections arranged and performed by Dr. Jordan Tang, the conductor of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra , his daughter and the choir of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Selections included, Agnus Dei, Por Ti Volar, In My Life, I Saw a Face and All I Want is You.
Decoratively I wanted all eyes on the altar. With the performances on stage as well as our 14 member wedding did not leave much space as it were . I had one feature design, a thick garland of FAUX white roses, rented for $250 as apposed to $3500 it would cost to make it fresh. No one knew the difference nor did I disclose (until now hee, hee) Instead of a unity candle we signed our family bible which was significant and touching.
I wanted the features to also be the people involved. In the programs which I had custom designed by Nicco & LaLa . For each of our wedding party members we mentioned a note of why they are important to us. The cost effective portion of this project was that we paid for the rights to reprint and printed them at Kinkos and enlisted my cousins to tie them together what I called a “Bonding” experienceJ.
The processional included my honorary bridesmaids acting as the grand marshall’s of sorts. This was a little theatrics that added to the significance of our ceremony.

Decorating for Christmas

Ho! Ho! Ho! It's as if Santa came early for these clients. During our slower season (Nov. and Dec.) we bring a little Christmas Cheer to people's homes and businesses. For a steal, we install their Christmas decor for them and let them enjoy the holidays free of the stress and labor of getting their houses ready. I thought I would share some of the festive photos that my gracious friend Joy Wilson shot. Joy is a photographer who has assisted me on some events and moved here with her husband from Atlanta. She's multi-talented and has great patience so she made the perfect install assistant! And....we've got some great shots to share with you. Live South Nash Magazine Publication

I was excited and very disappointed at the same time to see the Live South Nash magazine showcasing Premier W.E.D's work front page, content page and a full page ad with out giving us credit. I was commissioned from Lenox Village to do a 2 day photo shoot for their fabulous Peacock Ballroom. I designed three different styles and set ups and an publication of that work was to mention all of the vendors involved in making that photo shoot happen. Downtown Nashville Wedding

Joe Howell was the photographer for this wedding and a friend of the Groom. Joe has traveled the world shooting many things other than weddings and I dare say this was his first. I loved his perspective and he showed Jennifer and Mark at their best! Jennifer (a beautiful brainiac Scientist) and Mark (Vanderbilt Canine Officer) were married and had their reception at One Eleven in downtown Nashville. Farm Wedding

Jesscia Lachiver and Dane Hale were married on a gorgeous day in Oct. We were a last minute hire for the couple and spent a short 3 months helping them wrap up their details and design. Jessica is a beautifully creative person herself and had wonderful ideas for her wedding. Southall Eden Farm was their location for both ceremony and reception. Sit down buffet style dinner was provided by Chera Wilbanks who is now with....are you ready....Shoney's! They did a fabulous job and crushed the idea that the food would be less than average. It was delicious and presented beautifully!
Flowers: Caprice with Enchanted Florist. She is well known for her branch work and southern charm style. Her designs fit this wedding perfectly.

A new trend that is finally hitting the Nashville market is Eco-Friendly Weddings. I have seen some great things happening lately and thought I should share! These are easy, cost efficient and fun ways of getting the Eco-Chic wedding. A local company jumping into the "green"

world is Nashville's restaurant/catering company Tayst. They are launching their new menu that caters to those interested in producing a "green" menu for their guests.

Jewelry: GreenKarat-Buying recycled gold is one of the most ecologically and socially responsible choices you can make. GreenKarat is a great site to have options with your jewelry purchase. Another article of interest about Diamond purchases and your responsible indulgences is just that...Responsible Indulgences. It is an interesting piece and can educate you on the diamond mining process and it's social & eco downfalls. There are ways of impacting the positive and responsible side of the "eco-friendy" world that you might not have realized. This article was helpful.

Gowns- A Bridal Gown company I like that uses organic materials and still has a current style is Morgan Boszilkov. They are beautiful gowns made with sustainable fabrics.
Dinnerware- BranchHome has some fabulous recycled bamboo dinnerware that can be purchased in bulk. It has a natural tone and a rustic/urban feel to it. Perfect for the Urban Eco Bride!

Favors- There are lots of options for eco-friendly favors and one of the more popular items is a candy bar. Candy.com has a great selection of Natural and Organic Candy that actually tastes delicous and is a fun take on a new trend. Seed packets are also a fun favor to give and there are companies that have custom packets for your wedding. Check out American Meadows and their Wedding packets. 10-199 packets are only $.50 a piece.

Thank you notes after the wedding/party are a must and why not send a Grow-a-Note? It's lovely to receive a note from a friend, but even lovelier to get a "plantable" card that blooms into a beautiful garden. Green Field Paper Company sells a variety to choose from.

Groom's Gift- For the tech savvy groom there is the coolest company that makes motherboard money clips and luggage tags! Founded in 1991, Motherboard makes unique and colorful products from obsolete and used circuit boards rescued from TV sets, audio components, phones and computers. They estimate they use 25,000 to 30,000 pounds of circuit boards bound for landfills each year. Very hip and very unique.

Confetti-About 3 years ago I started using a bio-degradable confetti that has been so fun and easy for clean up. Ecofetti is the new safe and accepted wedding toss with no cleanup worries. Water-soluble and completely biodegradable confetti - either hose it away or let nature help with the cleanup...The perfect economical and environmentally friendly alternative to rice or birdseed, no slipping or staining, and ecofetti flutters easily to the ground. It comes in a variety of colors and you can even mix and match for that perfect theme combination. It is as light as snow falling and comes packaged with a scoop.

I hope these Eco-chic favorites inspire you to be a little more responsible in your planning. Even if only one aspect of your wedding reflects an eco-friendly idea, it is all the more earth friendly!

Making a budget wedding fabulous!

The sign of the times....budget weddings. The current client for me is stretching every dollar to make their dream wedding fabulous. It is challenging and frustrating for most of them. Thankfully, they were smart enough to hire a wedding planner!:-) Whether it is Premier W.E.D. or not, a wedding planner can save you a lot of time, money and headaches. They are your knight and shining armor when it comes to making things happen. The right planner allows your dreams to be expressed and then executes them with your budget in mind. However, you have to be realistic about your budget and the most common mistake I see is venue choices that are out of the budget from the get go. That puts you under extreme stress the rest of your planning period! Be flexible, smart and thorough in choosing your venue. That's my number one piece of advice. After all, sometimes getting everything you want means minimizing your needs.

I have also had to encourage clients to go "old school" and use their own car or a family friends car for the get away. That can save anywhere from $400-$700. I am not a fan of plastic for a wedding, but clear glass is just fine. It can be as low as $.30 a plate and $.25 per flatware piece!

Flowers- using the some of the same flowers you had at rehearsal dinner at your receptions is also a smart use of money. I also use extra vases at the reception that await the bridesmaids bouquets when they are finished with photos. These vases can adorn the guest dinner tables, the cake table, or a guest registry table. Mother's bouquets can also be used in the same fashion.

Invitations- Southall Eden Paperie has produced a line of stationary that is budget friendly and can be colored adapted with a small fee. This local wedding invitation designer has hit a market that was in desperate need of stylish but money savvy choices. Shannon O'Kelly competes with other online invitation companies in price and she offers you the local connection.

Combo Discounts- You might want to consider companies that offer more than one service and can discount you for using them for both. This is common with DJ/Lighting services, Photography/Videography companies and Catering/Cake companies.

I never want my client to feel like we are taking over. That is not our job until the day arrives. Through out the entire planning process it is a necessity for me that the client is involved and happy. However, allowing someone who does this day in and day out to help you can be intimidating and worrisome. I know some Brides think, "I don't want someone else to plan my wedding!" It's not about that. It's about allowing a professional to help you get what you want and finding ways that you aren't aware of to keep you on budget. A Wedding Director will bring you peace of mind (which is priceless) the day of your wedding. A Planner gets you there.
